How do I feel now? by skulldude How do I feel now? by skulldude
I drew this as a sketch when I first had broken up with my ex... I know this is a recent theme but honestly I was working on this well before the shitty e-mail I got. Just forced me to finish it...

The ghostly figure from the smoke is my torment from wanting a feeling I can't get, much like the vice of smoking... pointless... So, it's not an image of her directly... just a feeling I had but lost...

I know this image has been done many times before but at the time when I was smoking heavily it made sense. I don't smoke anymore now so don't worry! :p

Painted in PS CS4

Enjoy!

I love the symbolism. Very well made. My only criticism are that the eyes are too dark which made me first think he was wearing sunglasses. I also think it'd be better if the girl was connected directly from the trail of smoke from the cigarette.

Yeah I'll keep this in mind while I work on the larger version (still... taking forever to finish!).
Thanks for your comment! :3

I gotta say this is absolutely amazing. My girlfriend broke up with me a while back, a buddy of mine linked this to me. It just hit me. I told him how I really wanted it like in my room. He told me he read somewhere you were working on a larger version of it. Any truth to that? If so, Awesome.

Yeah I'm just having troubles enlarging it but it should be up today/tomorrow as a print.

Sorry you're going through a break up, they suck balls... I'd like to say something that wasn't clichéd here but whole deal in and out of a relationship is one. SO, just do what you do best and fuck anyone else who says otherwise! :3

Yeah man, it's been tough, but I'll be alright. I feel like you probably get that a lot. So don't worry About it.

But yeah, I'm really excited to see this as a full sized print.

nice! love the feeling in this, some of the best drawings come from the worst experiences. the fun part is someday you meet someone and think "Thank god me and my ex broke up or i never would have found this person"

Already gave you a comment on reddit, but for a more in depth, I'll say my favorite part about this is the distinct lack of Linkin Park appeal. The simple background and lighting really works well, but isn't so broody that I feel like white face paint and a chain belt should be involved. Your values could probably stand to be darker given your dramatic lighting, and i'm not sure if there should be reflective highlighting on the underside of the left forearm since it's being squished on an arm rest. The right leg near the groin looks a bit out of place, but I noticed that only after staring at this for a while.

All in all, like I said before, your feeling gets across in a way that's not cheesy and not overdone. It's simple, to the point, and very well done. The smoke vice looks great.

Hope you feel better soon.

Thanks, I lol'd at the "distinct lack of Linkin Park appeal"... and as for the reflective highlights, I wasn't thinking when I made them... just a quick iconic thing. I could have really done a lot more with this, but I just did it quickly to get it done.

Thanks for your comment though, it was very thoughtful and elaborate.

I will do but I sound a lot more melon collie on the internet than I am in real life though, so I am better off than I probably look like here on DA. :)

I was wondering if this was just a vent and be done with it thing. I'm glad to read that you're much better off than what this initially made seem.

Your gallery is not reflected by this picture at all. It was rather surprising! I'm always fascinated by people who can easily manipulate other styles.

Pretty much, like the e-mail I got from her was of similar nature...

I worry that my variety is a bad thing though, most artist's I know stick to 1 thing and it works better for them. Tried, tested and true sort of thing that their fans come to expect sort of deal.

Either way, I'm glad you are fascinated by my work! :)

Hmm. I saw it as "Even smoking is a soft comfort that this ex could not match."

I suppose it glorifies a dirty habit that way though.

I think yours works too, if not better. It is a terrible habit I wish I never picked up... I'm sure I'll pay for it later but just glad I quit awhile back now.

Thanks for your comment. :)
